The Chronicles of the Fallen Heroes Chapter 4: Unravelling Secrets; The Turning Point

Published on 10 October 2025 at 09:00

One Million Years B.C.: This chapter begins the drama of this saga, which began over 10,000 years ago and many more. Many ages passed during a time of peace deep in central Africa’s hot, dense rainforest.

New words had to be defined early in humanity’s journey in a New World. Language was poetic and part of the courtship for some; with a limited vocabulary, they used direct, straightforward and unsophisticated speech.

Other words conjured up strange phenomena, which were considered incantations from the supernatural world. Tribesmen would chant, ‘Have you heard? An enchanting spell is to wish upon the Wish One Well.

A magical spell where you can’t tell the tale from a good spell or an evil eye will make you go blind. It’s very unwise to speak of the Wish One Well.’

‘I would like to hear about the Wish One Well. What have you heard regarding the secret spell cast by the Wish One Well?’

‘Do you dare me to tell you what I have heard about the Wish One Well? Then, an evil spell will dwell in my hell.’

‘I’ve heard the Wish One Well has magical spells if you wish on a well, but no one knows where the Wish One Well dwells.’

‘The Wish One Well is a traveller’s well with good fortune for those who seek more than knowledge. The dwelling bed of The Wish One Well can send to a fate worse than death.

It has a mystical charm and a discerning arm of misfortune. Talking of the Wish One Well, you behold a wicked spell because you tell tales about the Wish One Well.

Only faithful folk tellers can tell and claim to have wished on the Wish One Well.

Those who tell false tales of the Wish One Well will fail to speak to anyone again.’

**Home From Home**

In a land of abundance, the need to want was to hunt and gather food. Then, they basked in the sun, and everyone shared their affections.

Wander freely deep in a wet rainforest, lurking in the bushes. We meet a tall, muscular young black man. Eros is a 20-year-old tribe member born in Central Africa.

Try to imagine Eros wearing a black kanzu. Embroidered with warriors hunting in the primitive days of yesteryear.

He stealthily treads in the vegetation with his young partner. She is slightly shorter than Eros, and her name is Andromeda.

She steps on a twig that snaps, causing a flock of birds to jump into flight out of fear. Their flapping wings and the trees’ green canopy block out what little light that penetrates from the vibrant blue sky.

As he peers through the greenery, he overlooks the plain fields of the savanna. The antelopes are grazing, cheetahs chase, and eagles glide high in the sky.

At the same time, a flock of vultures scavenges on a dead carcass of rotting flesh. Nature has its horrors, but its beauty lies in the complex diversity of life.

The beautiful colours in the flora smell divine, just like wine pressed from luscious red grapes.

**A Subtle Voice**

As the high noon turned into a warm evening, he gazed at the night sky. It was as clear as a day without rain.

Andromeda says, ‘I’m tired, let’s rest here. Look, the sky looks amazingly beautiful.’

Eros was weary after a long day hunting and looked up at the night sky. He replied, ‘You look even more beautiful in the moonlight.’

Andromeda answered, ‘Thank you, you’re not so bad yourself.’

Eros states, ‘This large tree can provide good cover for us to rest. Come over here and sit beside me.’

She sits alongside our hero, and the atmosphere opens up. The stars sang a song as they flickered like countless candles across the Milky Way.

Andromeda exhaled, ‘Isn’t that a wonderful sight?’

Shooting stars beam brightly as they streak into space, like sliding your fingers along a trickling stream.

Eros is in a romantic mood and responds, ‘As the shooting stars pass into the heavens. They strum a merry tune.

The hypnotic full moon beams a bright light. It casts spooky shadows from the trees on the edge of the grassy savanna floor.

When the long golden grass sways in the gentle breeze, it puts me at ease.’

As Eros looks into the night sky, he rests against a tree, his mate resting her head and falling asleep on his lap.

He is about to nod off when he is startled when he hears a soft, subtle voice within him say, ‘To be known in memory for eternity, follow the brightest star north.’

He was amazed that a voice within his mind spoke. It was something he said without giving it a thought. It was strange, weird, and puzzling.

He continued to enjoy the universe’s wonders. With his partner, Andromeda. In the following chapter, they fell asleep in each other’s arms when they woke up the following day.
